Epilogue

So ends almost 10 years devoted to a project that I have called “Knowledge and Wisdom Through Films”.

The project was conceived way back in the fall of 1999, shortly after the American Film Institute’s list ranking of the 100 best films of the 20th Century appeared to me.   Initially, I just wanted to spend some time, each week, watching one of these 100 best with my son, who was then living with me, and attending the local community college.

He long has since stop living with me, but I continued to be greatly drawn to these great films, and more, to all great, good films, that have some knowledge and wisdom in them.   And, the project became what is it, in the way that I explain at the beginning of this manuscript. 

From the initial start, I have continued over the years, up to the present, to watch one or two films a week (most weeks).  And, I fully expect to continue at this rate as a part of my remaining life.  Doing so brings me knowledge, understanding, truth, and importantly, good entertainment.

But, projects need to come to an end, so I have ended this project of writing about these films, as I have been doing and as you can read in the rest of this manuscript.  From now on, I will just watch films, enjoy them and think about what truth and wisdom that I can find in them. 

These films have been my “great literature, my great books to read”, and I feel that I have been able to find, through watching the films, a very suitable approach to what great literature can bring to a life, and at the same time an approach that fits well with a busy schedule, such that nowhere near the amount of time for reading is required.

For the films that I have watched, and will watch, and for those good and great films that I will miss watching, I am immensely grateful to all those who have been and will be responsible for their creation, and to a film industry for the product that  it has created, and continues to created.  Thank you!
