God, Jesus, and Incarnation
February 22, 2013
To me, God is a word used for describing the conditions of love, wisdom, justice, righteousness, goodness, and, importantly, order.
By order, I mean the physical laws of the universe which, mysteriously and incomprehensively, have always existed, and will always exist, unchangeably, in the universe as the universe exists.
Mysteriously and incomprehensibly, the conditions of love, wisdom, justice, righteousness, and goodness exist, separately, for man and other living materials in the universe. Unlike love, wisdom, justice, righteousness, and goodness, the condition of order exists in all materials – living and non-living. I hopefully believe that collectively, order and love, wisdom, justice, righteousness, and goodness ultimately determine what becomes of man and of the universe.
Because I hopefully believe that these conditions ultimately will determine what becomes of man and the universe, these conditions for me are the ultimate forces in the universe. Conflict can exist between the force of order and the forces of love, wisdom, justice, righteousness, and goodness, so that the force of order can harm man. However, without the force of order, the forces of love, wisdom, justice, righteousness, and goodness could not exist. Man’s eternal struggle is reconciling the two forces – order against love, wisdom, justice, righteousness, and goodness.
I accept that present day man (and woman) evolved from earlier animal forms, and continue to have animal characteristics and properties.
The evolutionary point that separates early animal forms of man from present-day man is, I believe, that point when man mysteriously and incomprehensively developed the ability to have free will. The forces of order and of love, wisdom, justice, righteousness, and goodness (God) had to exist, in some mysteriously and incomprehensible way, for man to cross this evolutionary point. These forces (God) acted on early man so that man could acquire free will.
I believe this action on man resulting in free will is an example of the intervention of the forces of order and love, wisdom, justice, righteousness, and goodness on man. This intervention is what I would call incarnation – the action of God (the force of order and the forces of love, wisdom, justice, righteousness, and goodness) upon man.
Another example of incarnation, in my mind, is associated with the man known as Jesus. This incarnation of Jesus, I believe, in some mysterious and incomprehensible way, is a special incarnation, as was the acquisition of free will by man. In some special way, this incarnation of Jesus by the forces of love, wisdom, justice, righteousness, and goodness, and of order (which I call God), happened in order to serve God.
I believe that these two above mentioned incarnations (free will; Jesus) serve to allow man to know, understand, and be capable of interacting with and using these forces for the welfare of the universe.
